29th City Council District

1. What is the most important issue in Council District 29 you would address if elected?

Education remains a major issue for families in my community. As a former member of the Education Committee in the NYC Council, I was able to secure funding for schools which helped alleviate overcrowding and granted educators and students better tools for learning. I will be a fierce advocate for education at City Hall and will fight to make sure that funding stays intact.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I will advocate for quality of life issues by supporting public parks, promoting improved pedestrian safety, and working for better senior services. As a Council Member, I brought back recreational park managers to parks in the district so that children were safe. I funded the pedestrian guard rails on Queens Boulevard, which have saved many lives since 1999. I will further expand safety measures on Queens and Woodhaven Boulevards by working closely with the DOT to identify dangerous areas. Additionally, I will support programs for seniors like SCRIE and SCHE and will revisit the city's policy for senior meals in order to improve services.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

As both a NYC Council Member for over ten years and as Queens Deputy Borough President, I have always been a fierce advocate for residents. My background as a union member, in private industry, as a PTA president, a single parent, and a lifelong Democrat grants me a unique understanding of the needs of families. I have dedicated my career to public service and would be honored to again represent the 29th District during this challenging time in our city's history.
