What is the most important issue in Council District 23 you would address if elected?
We need to build an economy that works for everyone. That starts with creating more jobs and improving education. When my parents came to this community, they were immigrants without a lot of money—but they could find work and provide us with a good education. Now, I’m the first in my family to graduate from college and law school. I’m running for City Council so everyone has the same opportunities that I’ve had. As your Council Member, I will work hard to make sure everyone in the community has the opportunity to share in this City’s prosperity.
What other important issues would you address if elected?
The district doesn’t get its fair share of resources. We need to invest in better care for our seniors. District #23 has one of the city's oldest populations. I would expand senior care. Our roads and transportation need more resources. Jamaica Avenue has deteriorated to become one of the worst in the city—and there are too many like it. As your Council Member, I will work hard to make sure that the city maintains our roads. We also need upgraded mass transit options. As the district has no subway service, I would push to expand and upgrade bus service.
What makes you the best candidate for this office?
It’s time for a fresh approach to move the district forward—and I’m the right candidate to deliver results. I promise that no one will work harder in the Council to fight for good jobs, better education, safe streets and better services for seniors in our community. I bring a fresh approach that’s based on getting things done. I have years of experience working in the Council, so I will be ready for the job on day one. I won’t allow the district to get passed over for the resources we need. I’m proud to have been a lifelong resident of this community—I was born at Long Island Jewish hospital, and attended PS 115 and MS 172. It would be an honor and a privilege to work hard for this district.
