What is the most important issue in Council District 9 you would address if elected?
We need to increase affordability including protecting and creating affordable housing so our seniors can afford to stay here, young people can start here and the middle class won't be squeezed out and making healthcare and services more accessible and affordable through a NY single payer plan. I'll fight to make our city more livable, especially for the most vulnerable.
What other important issues would you address if elected?
We need to knock down barriers, increase opportunity and promote fairness, equality and basic justice. We need to improve our public schools so every child has the chance to succeed through increased government investment and parental involvement. We need to create new job opportunities for residents with good pay and benefits. And we need to advance justice for all, promote inclusion, diversity and equality and blaze a new trail forward.
What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I can do more on the City Council — more for seniors, our children and all our community. I have a proven record of taking bold action and getting results: passing landmark Lead Paint law; sponsoring NYS Living Wage law and helping pass a minimum wage increase; highlighting plague of rats; passing public authority reforms; standing-up for criminal justice reform; and much more. I'm best prepared to stand up and fight for our community.
