This fall, you will have the opportunity to decide on a ballot proposal to change our New York City charter. This 2002 Ballot Proposal Voter Guide is designed to help you as you prepare to vote in the November 5 general election on that ballot proposal. There will also be candidates for a number of offices on the ballot not covered by this Guide, including governor and various state senate and assembly seats.

The Voter Guide is a nonpartisan, plain-language handbook published
by the New York City Campaign Finance Board (the "CFB"), an independent
City agency, to give you information about City elections. Under the City
Charter, the Guide is printed in English and Spanish, and under Federal voting
laws, it is also distributed in Chinese and Korean in some districts. Printed copies of the Voter Guide
in Spanish, Chinese, and
Korean may be obtained from
the Campaign Finance Board at no charge. Please call 212-360-7100 for more

The CFB also administers the New York City Campaign Finance Program for local New York City (not state) elections. The Program reduces the influence of private money on City campaigns, offers qualified candidates a fair chance to run for office by providing public matching funds for small contributions, and makes available detailed information on candidates’ campaign finances.
