1. What is the most important issue in Council District 30 you would address if elected?
As an educator, and the mother of two children in local schools, no issue is more important than strengthening NYC's education system. I will continue to work to reduce class size, attract and retain the best teachers, and ensure that students master the skills of one grade before moving on to the next.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
You can count on me to make NYC safer, to protect homeowners and small businesses, and to improve access to quality and affordable health care. I will continue to advocate for more local police and fire protection, better services for our seniors including tax abatements and prescription drug benefits, and preserving the character of our community.
To stop overdevelopment, I've moved the Dept of City Planning to rezone Glendale, Maspeth and Middle Village. I am working to landmark the historic streets of Ridgewood and Richmond Hill and to restore Ridgewood Reservoir as a natural habitat for environmental education.
I believe that economic recovery will be driven in large part by supporting local businesses. I will continue to connect community members with jobs and services provided by NYC's small businesses.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
For over three generations, my family has been dedicated to public service. As the cousin of Congressman Joseph Crowley and the daughter of two former Council Members, I learned from a very early age the importance of community service.
