1. What is the most important issue in the city you would address if elected?
Because of my vast, hands-on experience as a senior financial manager in both government and commercial sectors, I know of areas where several hundred million dollars can be saved.
My immediate targets will be: to eliminate waste and fraud; rapid and significant improvements in productivity; greater transparency; to abolish cronyism.
The huge savings that will be achieved through my efforts will be available for JOBS, TAX REDUCTION, HOUSING, and EDUCATION.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
One of the most important functions of the Comptroller is to manage pension funds. Fraud allegations have emerged during Mr. Hevesi's tenure as Comptroller. I will revamp the whole system. My goals will be total transparency and to make sure there is zero possibility that taxpayers' hard earned savings can be misused or misappropriated.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
These turbulent times of soaring job losses, heartbreaking rate of foreclosures, and massive tax increase, demand that the Comptroller, your fiscal watchdog, has the right professional qualification and experience. I fit the bill totally. The only CPA running. 40 years of financial expertise, including 12 years as Director Audit in Nassau County. My performance record of exposing waste of $500 million is unmatched and unparalleled. Will do even more for our great city.
