As a father, former FDNY firefighter and friend of the environment I am as concerned as you about our future and the future of our children. With the Federal Government’s national security failure on September 11th it seems illogical that our City Council should defer legislative hearings on the matter. My first order of business when elected is to insist on council hearings on what went wrong on September 11th, the rebuilding process and other pressing issues.
Having shared an office in the World Trade Center, I understand completely the importance of attracting new business. Our neighbors across the Hudson are starting to cast shadows with their rapidly growing skyline financed in part by businesses enticed from NYC. The council needs to address this by instituting programs which welcome business back by providing incentives and affordable housing for all.
My firefighting experience has taught me that the FDNY operates on two simple principles: “Do the right thing” and “Keep it simple.” Bringing these cornerstones with me to the City Council will translate into streamlining local government while making it accessible to all.
We need proven leaders, individuals who are not afraid to step up to the plate. I have fought fires on the lower east side, responded to ground zero on 9/11, participated in environmental studies in mainland China, worked on the cleanup of the Exxon Valdez and was appointed an ambassador of goodwill by Rotary International to assist the people of Thailand. These along with my other accomplishments make me the only logical candidate. With your support, together we can ensure a bright future for generations of New Yorkers to come.
