1. What is the most important issue in the city you would address if elected?

As Comptroller I will work tirelessly to hold City government accountable, get the City's cost structure under control, cut wasteful spending, invest pension funds wisely and create jobs. I will encourage investment in local business while ensuring New York's leadership role in building 21st century industries.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

I will fight aggressively to increase productivity and bring best practices from the business world into City government. I will audit spending to eliminate waste and demand results. I will insist that City agencies improve their energy efficiency, encouraging environmental improvements like green buildings and low-emission fuels. I will serve as a check-and-balance on City Hall. On the Council, I forced the repeal of tax loopholes that subsidized overdevelopment and threatening the vitality and dynamism of our communities. I will serve as a powerful voice for a progressive agenda: workers rights; prevailing wage protections; fighting poverty; protecting affordable housing; encouraging minority and women-owned businesses; budget reform, and a sustainable public transportation infrastructure.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

My record of holding government accountable for results and creating jobs through creativity and innovation, as well as my vision for how the Comptroller's Office can make a real difference in the lives of working New Yorkers uniquely qualifies me for this office.
