Candidate Statement

Our country is facing numerous challenges from the Trump Administration, and my priorities next Congress will be to protect the rule of rule of law and democratic institutions against the continuing attacks by the President and his Administration. If the Democratic Party wins control of the House of Representatives, I will be the next Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and will be able to do real oversight over the Administration and be that check the constitution envisioned.

I will also continue to push for civil rights and civil liberties (voting rights, protecting immigrants, due process); increasing investment in transportation that will grow the economy, create jobs and save energy; pursuing intelligent economic policies that will stimulate our economy and promote economic growth and maintain a diverse middle class.
