Anthony was born and raised in Brooklyn
to Mercedes and Sigfredo Miranda. He is married
to Sylvia and has two beautiful sons, Antonio
and Andres.
The greatest endorsement as a city council member
is that of the community, the youth, the parents,
elderly and business owners. Anthony represents
strong progressive leadership uncompromised by
special interest or selective “clubs”.
Anthony founded the Latino Officers Association
with other key Hispanic Officers to improve racial
relations within the Police Department, and between
the Police Department and the community. Anthony
represents honesty, integrity and strong leadership.
While still employed by NYCPD he exposed corruption,
police brutality, discrimination, racial profiling
and illegal quotas. Anthony continues to advocate
for civil rights and equal justice in law enforcement.
Anthony mentors youth in the community, educates
families about their rights and stands with the
community in times of protest. In honor of his
selfless dedication, Anthony receives praise and
recognition from representatives of Congress,
United States Senate, N.Y. State Assembly, City
Council and community leaders. Anthony is a proponent
for equal access to education, housing, and social
services. Anthony advocates for universal health
care, the elderly, and union activities. Anthony
will be a full time City Council member representing
the community’s interest only.
