1. What is the most important issue in Council District 39 you would address if elected? We need a goal-oriented, private-sector style of progressive action. Especially for those raising families, those stretched and struggling thru this Recession, and our seniors. Runaway rents can be addressed for low, mid-incomes. We need local jobs. By legislation and coalition we can champion the fight vs. MTA fares, bridge tolls, electricity costs, proposed street car parking fees...
2. What other important issues would you address if elected? Committed to a comprehensive Urban agenda for school-age children. We can't wait for DC or Albany, and we can lead it. Support for school principals, teachers, arts programs and parental involvement are keys. Advocate responsibility for drivers and enforcement. Support sensible development; get more schools underway. Lure back manufacturers. Improve roadways. Work with the Mayor, but oppose bridge tolls, defend & strengthen LICH, and oppose 2nd grade and lower PS-wide testing.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office? Long-enjoyed the diverse mix in our area. It's like no other place on Earth. Being from a long-time Brooklyn family of teachers, pressmen, longshoremen (all Dems)...at my core is a blue-collar work ethic. It's a vote for acceptance, creativity, patience, but competitiveness for BKLYN. This year, it's OK to vote Republican.
