Prior Public Experience
The greatest honor of my life has been putting on this nation’s uniform and serving in the U.S. Army. After returning from active duty in Afghanistan, where I earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart, I joined the Army National Guard, where I continue to serve today.
After returning home, I also had the privilege of serving as Director of Public Engagement and Special Assistant to the late Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson. There, I helped lead in the development of several nationally recognized programs aimed at restoring trust between communities and the criminal justice system, such as Begin Again.
Most recently, I served as Chief of Staff for Brightpoint Health, a non-profit healthcare organization that has responded effectively to the needs of underserved New Yorkers for over 25 years. There, I gained experience navigating complex issues revolving around communities and their healthcare.
Candidate Statement
The men and women I served with in Afghanistan worked together to do the impossible every single day - not for any awards or recognition, simply because that’s what their country asked of them. I’m running for Congress because I see too many politicians in Washington who lack the commitment and courage to do the same. But it hasn’t always been this way.
After far too many soldiers were killed by IEDs in Afghanistan, Congress acted. They put partisanship aside, put the smartest people together in a room, and solved the problem. In record time our Strykers were redesigned and I am alive today because of that. So, don’t tell me we can’t defeat the drug epidemic, rebuild our infrastructure, or get money out of politics. We’ve faced harder challenges before, and with new leaders in Congress, we can once again fight for the America we know is possible.
